Distance from center of Milky Way to Sun
Posted by carlosap in Blog Personal on October 29th, 2007
Author: dutch minott What is the distance between the center of the Milky Way and our Sun? Response #: 1 of 1 Author: hawley The Milky Way has a radius of about 15 kpc, and the Sun is about 10 kpc from the center. A "kpc" is a kilo-parsec. One parsec is 3.26 light years or 3.086 x 10^18 cm. I leave the awesome mathematical challenge of converting to miles (or kilometers) as an exercise for the reader. http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/newton/askasci/1995/astron/AST008.HTM

Downloading and Using Vista Web Fonts
In the 90’s Microsoft donated the standard Web Core Fonts that most every browser uses today and those core fonts have remained unchanged until now. With the release of Windows Vista, Microsoft has unleashed something quite new on the Web — the “C” fonts; Cambria, Calibri, Candara, Consolas, Constantia, and Corbel. Here’s how to download them for free and how to use them in your web sites.
Vista includes 6 new web fonts (all begin with C
as in core
). All of these fonts have been expertly tuned to look great both on the screen (even LCDs) and on paper.
Here’s their names and what they look like.
